十二支と干支の違いは？What's the difference between juni-shi (12 animals) and kanshi (60-term cycle)?
十二支は子・丑・寅など12種類の動物の呼び名です。干支は本来、十干（甲・乙・丙…10種類）と十二支を組み合わせた60種類の組み合わせ（例：甲子・丙午）を指し、60年で一巡します。Juni-shi refers to the 12 zodiac animals. Kanshi properly refers to the 60 combinations of the 10 heavenly stems and 12 branches (e.g. Kinoene, Hinoeuma), which repeat every 60 years.
どの年の何月から次の干支に切り替わりますか？When during the year does the zodiac change?
本ツールは西暦の1月1日〜12月31日を単位として干支を計算する簡易版です。旧暦や立春を基準とする流派もありますが、一般的なカレンダー用途ではこの計算方法が広く使われています。This tool uses a simplified version based on the Western calendar year (Jan 1–Dec 31). Some traditions use the lunar calendar or the first day of spring (risshun) instead, but this method is widely used for general calendar purposes.
何年周期で同じ干支に戻りますか？How many years until the same zodiac comes around again?
十二支だけなら12年周期、十干十二支を組み合わせた干支は60年周期で一巡します。60歳の「還暦」は、生まれた年と同じ干支に還ることに由来します。The 12-animal cycle repeats every 12 years; the full 60-term kanshi cycle repeats every 60 years. The Japanese 60th-birthday celebration "kanreki" is named for returning to one's birth-year kanshi.
